Network Consulting

We offer a wide spectrum of network consulting services:

  • Vision
  • Strategy
  • Assessment
  • Design
  • Implementation

Our professionals help you plan and design a high-performance, end-to-end network infrastructure.

With vision, strategy, assessment, architecture and conceptual design services to help businesses understand their current network infrastructure and emerging network technologies, we can formulate a strategy for a flexible and secure high performance network - one that's right for you, today and in the future.

We then provide implementation planning, rapid integration, project management, product and operational services for your network and cabling infrastructure.

Network Overview

We offer a comprehensive set of remote network management services -- monitoring, performance and security, problem identification, change and configuration.

Management Services provides a remotely delivered suite of network monitoring and management solutions for improving performance, availability and security while minimizing the costs associated with operating the network infrastructure.

As companies look to technologies such as virtual private networking (VPN), IP Telephony, Voice over IP (VoIP) and converged data/voice/video networks, IBM can help deliver "on-demand" network management services in a scalable manner with flexible pricing options.

VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKING

Remote access for mobile users and remote offices present a challenges for businesses. Traditional solutions require companies to maintain remote access servers, modem banks, telephone lines, and pay telecommunication usage charges to support remote sites and mobile users.

Internet-based remote access allows businesses to leverage the Internet's ubiquitous access points, cost-savings and flexibility, but requires protecting the confidentiality and integrity of business-critical information and transactions as it travels over the Internet. Hackers or unauthorized users can initiate fraudulent transactions, steal, alter, or destroy confidential information, exposing your organization, customers, vendors and business partners to financial losses.

Using a Virtual Private Network application and hardware combination solution, mobile users and remote sites can securely connect to their office network's IPSec-compliant VPN gateway and enjoy the benefits of broadband performance and the privacy of a Virtual Private Network (VPN). VPN Client software is ideal for mobile users needing secure access to mission-critical network resources.

Our VPN solutions provide:

Multi-Platform Client Support:

  • Allows secure, reliable client-initiated VPN connections from any computer running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 or XP to provide maximum deployment flexibility.

Automatic Certificate Support:

  • Enables a client to send its own certificate automatically based on peer request instead of complicated local configurations. The client can also accept an ID from a peer with an accompanying certificate issued by a "trusted" CA (Certificate Authority).

VPN Session Reliability:

  • Supports multiple VPN gateways to ensure mission-critical network access in case the primary gateway fails. IKE "keepalives" maintain the persistence of the VPN connections to eliminate time-consuming session restarts.

Easy Multi-Client Deployment:

  • Using a GroupVPN tunnel feature allows administrators to simplify the deployment of VPN Clients by distributing common configurations to all or subgroups of VPN Clients.

Simplified VPN Gateway Access:

  • Allow mobile users to access a VPN gateway using DNS, WINS and LMHOST host name resolution instead of IP addresses.

Overview

Remote access for mobile users presents challenges for businesses. Traditional solutions require companies to maintain remote access servers, modem banks, telephone lines and pay telecommunication usage charges to support mobile users.

Internet-based remote access allows businesses to leverage the Internet's ubiquitous access points, cost-savings and flexibility, but requires protecting the confidentiality and integrity of business-critical information and transactions as it travels over the Internet. Hackers or unauthorized users can initiate fraudulent transactions, steal, alter or destroy confidential information, exposing your organization, customers, vendors and business partners to financial losses.

Using the SonicWALL VPN Client 8.0 application, mobile users can securely connect to their office network's IPSec-compliant VPN gateway and enjoy the benefits of broadband performance and the privacy of a Virtual Private Network (VPN). The SonicWALL VPN Client software is ideal for mobile users needing secure access to mission-critical network resources, but for mobility reasons are unable to utilize a SonicWALL VPN appliance-based solution.

The SonicWALL VPN Client software delivers secure access through any IP network environment, ensuring complete flexibility and reliability for mobile users. By providing secure communications over dial-up or broadband Internet connections, 802.11b wireless networks and networks using Network Address Translation (NAT), the SonicWALL VPN Client enables mobile users to increase their connect time to corporate network resources, enhancing their productivity.

Key Features and Benefits

Multi-Platform Client Support: Allows secure, reliable client-initiated VPN connections from any computer running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 or XP to provide maximum deployment flexibility.

Automatic Certificate Support: Enables a client to send its own certificate automatically based on peer request instead of complicated local configurations. The client can also accept an ID from a peer with an accompanying certificate issued by a "trusted" CA (Certificate Authority).

Easy Multi-Client Deployment: Using SonicWALL's GroupVPN tunnel feature allows administrators to simplify the deployment of VPN Clients by distributing common configurations to all or subgroups of VPN Clients.

Simplified VPN Gateway Access: Allows mobile users to access a VPN gateway using DNS, WINS, and LMHOST host name resolution instead of IP addresses.

SonicWALL Content Filtering

The Problem

Exposure To Unproductive And Objectionable Material. Without an automated solution, it's almost impossible for businesses, schools and libraries to monitor usage and control access to unproductive and objectionable Websites according to the organization's Acceptable Use Policies.

Lost Productivity. Employees can waste time on inappropriate or objectionable Web sites.

Financial Loss. Failure to control access to objectionable Web sites, such as pornographic or racist, can expose the organization to lawsuits.

Privacy Concerns. Unscrupulous web site operators may use Java, Active X and "cookies" to monitor your surfing habits.

The Solution

Built-in Internet Content Filtering equips SonicWALL Internet security appliances to monitor usage and control access to unproductive and objectionable Web content according to established Acceptable Use Policies.

Key Features and Benefits

Content Filter List Subscription. SonicWALL's Content Filter List, available by subscription, automatically updates content filters weekly with new and relocated sites, extending your protection and reducing administrative costs.

URL Filtering With Trusted And Forbidden Domains. Network administrators can specify domains or hosts (e.g., "yahoo.com") to which access can be allowed ("Trusted") or denied ("Forbidden"). This feature can be used to customize the Content Filter List or to allow Web access to sites on a custom list. With careful screening, this can be close to 100% effective at blocking objectionable material.

Keyword Blocking. SonicWALL Internet security appliances can optionally scan both the filename field and host field for specific keywords and block any requests that contain them.

Java, ActiveX and Cookie Blocking. Java and Active X are often used for hacker attacks. Cookies, which direct a remote Web browser to save small amounts of data on its local hard disk, can be used to store preference information and track Web usage history. For this reason, they can cause some privacy concerns. SonicWALL Internet security appliances can be configured to block Java and ActiveX scripts, as well as Cookies.

Block by Time of Day. SonicWALL Internet security appliances allow the network administrator to make filtering active during certain times of day. When Time of Day filtering is activated, all filtering functions (filter list, cookies blocking, keyword blocking, etc.) will be on or off during specified times.

Overview

Your anti-virus software is only as good as the last virus outbreak. Therefore, updating, detection and policy enforcement play a key role in meeting the latest threats and protecting your networks. The challenge is not just having anti-virus software deployed on your company's computer systems. The challenge is how to ensure that your network is protected when a new virus outbreak occurs and how you distribute the anti-virus updates the instant they become available.

SonicWALL Complete Anti-Virus is a distributed, gateway-enforced solution that ensures always-on/always-updated anti-virus software for every client in your network, while at the same time providing new levels of flexibility for your network servers. With SonicWALL active anti-virus protection, no employee or partner can access the Internet without the latest updates.

SonicWALL Complete Anti-Virus combines SonicWALL's patent-pending Network Anti-Virus with the award-winning McAfee NetShield and GroupShield applications for Windows-based File, Print and Exchange servers. It provides your organization with a highly automated and enforced solution at the desktop, eliminating machine-by-machine anti-virus deployment. By delivering very fast time-to-response during rapid virus outbreaks, it reduces the time and costs associated with administering an anti-virus policy throughout your entire network.
